People are always looking to spend a kings ransom on a small bow that has a high draw weight

The average bow pulled about 35-45lbs warbows are a different story. However with 1in pvc you can make an asiatic recurve style bow that will pull 60-70lbs.

but if you're looking to practice with something or just creative or don't want to shoot your expensive name brand bow. This might be a good idea

Be careful heating up PVC. Liberated poly vinyl chloride molecules are among the most carcinogenic substances known to man. Make sure you wear a respirator while doing this.

the idea is not to melt the pvc

and if you do- you're doing it wrong

Meh.

You cut the PVC down so its about half the size of the fibreglass rod, you then use the fencing wire attachment clips(metal) specicialy made for the rods.
They use a double bind winding so the harder something pulls on it the tighter it holds, with no pressure it slides on and off without any force needed. till you attach the string the bow at which point they dont move.

This gives you a bow that bends more in the upper half of the limbs.. like a real bow.

You then take some metal pipe and cut it so its about half the size of the PVC as a riser.

The bow doesnt bend in the middle, it resists bending in the first 1/3 of the limbs, and bends alot in the last 1/2 of each limb.

Its alot faster and easier to pull back then a full PVC+ROD bow.

I made all sorts of pvc+fibreglass rod bows.. and this was the best kind I ever made as a kid.
