I check this site every time I get on the internet,
and this thread is a good example of the freedom here.
Other sites usually have one good author. ChrisNuttall is on Survival monkey, someone ask him to come here.  He has written a spectrum from pure shtf to sci-fi. His plots are creative. |

They're a cult IMO. Seriously. I can see living in a compound if thats your thing, but the unwritten rules and the strange way and beliefs of those folks.....says cult to me.
I got banned because Kathy was saying how she couldn't email folks, so I tried to see if anyone could or just her. Turns out, apparently john does and can read the so called private messages and he stopped my email to Kathy. There was no disagreements allowed. You marched lock step with them or you're out. Now, who wants to go to a place like that? I will miss the story Something New. I was only up to chp 21 on it LOL oh well. oh and whoever earlier said that this site is better....only in some things. No forum is perfect. Theres some crap here too. just saying. oh yea, chris is an amazing author. man! good stuff that guy comes up with! |

I am on that other site and I have sent an email to him requesting he put up a notice. I haven't had any problems on his site before and have only done 40 posts since he started the new version of the site in 2006.
I did see that one of the authors T.O.M. had also requested to know if the missing fiction section was temporary or permanent. I saw no reply. I am hoping it is a temporary thing. I know some people here have been banned from his site, and that this one is less restrictive, but I don't think it should be compared to a cult. Just my $0.02. |

Looks like a cult and quacks like a cult. Maybe it is. At least on this site we can express our opinions abut a site or its mods without being banned for not toeing the line like at the "nut house" err frugals .
Maybe someone that can still send private messages on frugals can extend an invite to TOM. He and his works would surely be well received here. |

That place is a circle jerk of pseudo christian radicalism in it's finest, brain washed glory. Can you imagine a real survival community made up of those kind of people? They will be the ones to bring back witch burning and the crusades if the SHTF.

Interesting news. I joined there for the fiction and stayed for some of the other stuff- and so far haven't been banned. Some good stuff, but the whole Christian focus is a bit wearing.
Wonder if his membership will drop off? I have this theory that as times become tougher, people in general become more conservative and/or polarised in their views- his site seems confirmation of that with the increased outspokenness of his and some others views. Ah well. His site, his rules........ |
