Default Maverick HS12 “Tactical” Over/Under

Advertise Here

Just got the new Mossberg catalog in the mail and found this new shotty by Maverick. The description states it has or could have (maybe it's an option you order it w/) but anyways get this...screw in chokes.
How great would this be as a survival shotgun? It seems to cover all bases as far as tactical and practical w/ a very simple and age old design.

I think one of these may have to make it into my stable as I've always wanted a O/U and this will fit the bill w/out breaking the bank or having to worry about damaging a collectable or antique.

I wish they had Blued the Muzzle. It looks like crap in the Video, The finish, not the Gun.

I wish they would have left the rails off it. I have always wanted a short O/U

I like the idea of a double barrel shotgun, but when it goes single trigger I feel the gun has given up one of the significant advantages of a SxS or OxU.

Good to see Maverick branching out a little. Although the price isn't really in line with their value minded 88s. If they drop the price and ditch the rails I'd say it's a winner. Select fire would be nice too. Could be a decent double tap Grizzly gun.

I thought the idea having one slug an one buck/bird shot mix would be great for in the woods. Not much I shouldn't be able to knock down if I do my part and shoot what I'm aiming at. I actually like the rails for the convenience of having them and the entertainment of seeing what concoctions people will come up w/ when strapping crap to 'em. I'm not a tacticle guy but wouldn't mind being able to easily connect a small chainsaw w/ lazer sights on the bottom and celestial telescope mounted on top!

I have no idea what maverick sells. But, they should include a convential over under for sale along with this tactical model.

I agree, ditch the rails. Or, make a model with vented rib along with the one shown.

seems like for the price you could buy 2 mav 88s or a very good condition 590. Neat enough and all just think you could do better for the money.

Just picked myself up one of these beauties. I'm happy i did. The price was good. The length is perfect, and the rail doubles as a rear sight. Haven't had a chance to shoot it but the weight feels very nice. Heavy enough to prevent a huge recoil, but light enough to carry long distance. Shoots 2 3/4 - 3 inches shells. Only thing is missing is a spot for sling swivels and a bayonet log, lol. I always wanted an o/u shotgun. Again, I'm very happy with my purchase.

I heard the ATF made them drop the chokes.
I saw one at a gun show.
I would love to have an O/U coach gun, but these seem overpriced.
The chokes would make it much more useful.

Oh I didn't know you should buy a tactical o/u for sporting
Pump actions are very reliable platforms.
Good luck reloading after two shots when I have 7 more to go....let me no how the reloading goes with buckshot in the air.

Its like the $10,000 Honda with $10,000 more in "upgrades" --- still a Honda.

yea but see. i will dodge your scatter shot and shoot you with my 2 shots. i can play this game as well. over unders as well as sxs arnt a bad idea. pumps are easier to break. more moving parts. on top of that i can pull two loads faster then you can pump the thing. if pumps were so awesome you would see them on the trap and skeet fields. yes they used to be out there. some still shoot doubles. but the auto's and ou/sxs's shoot faster and are more accurate.
