As long as it's not leftover dinner I'm good with it.

Sliders were never an option for us

i rode a navy ship for about three months and the guys who did the cooking on the ships along with serveing great food along with midrats where a great group of guys for they would have open grill night on a couple nights a week and when you got order anything from the socalled three sandwich order menu

the sandwichs where the following on the menu-x- BLT-club-x-hambuger-sub style lunch meats with french fries on the side along with the standard what was left over from the supper meals also on the line..

they would make us sandwichs and keep them in the frig there to heated up when come back from the dureing the VBSS or Vessel Board Search Sizeure dureing the drug sweeps at times..

beening a Army guy on a boat full of navy personal was a little stange at times but i have to say it was a great overall ..i worked with three diff law enforcement personal groups along with the Coast Guard and two international law enforcement personal..we each made up one search team and it would get funny at times when a person would say you can not search me your are not from a law enforcement officer from this country and then one of the international L.E.O.would show up on the bridge and the person who said it would basically shut up ..

a couple of times when we came back from a search after beening called out at a odd hour the cooks would send up a plate of sandwichs to us or call up to the ready room area and tell us there is sandwichs in the frig and we can pick them up on the way down to our sleeping area..that allways got me how well they treated us on the ship.

On submarines there wasn't much choice. Actually the only choice was if you were going to eat what they served or go hungry. The food was pretty good most of the time. I did miss fresh salads, fruits and milk, but you make due with what you have.

for beening a Army guy in a ship full of navy personal it was at time like beening in the camp of northern yankees dureing the civil war. ...i was on the ship when Navy played Army football and it was a little scarey at times when the captian made the comment about throwing us off in the middle of the ocean if navy lost..

one of the DEA guys was a West Point grad and he and the Captian would go back and forth about the Army VS Navy and it would get a little out of control at times ..but dureing the Army=Navy game the DEA guy put up Army beats Navy handmade signs on the Captian inport cabin and it started from there with those two basically seeing who could out do the other at times..

Usually Chili-Mac never sliders. Sometimes leftovers. If it was late enough, sometimes sweet rolls. ( we had a cook get transferred to Camp David because he was so good.)

Then there is always sending the "sounding and security watch" up to the stateroom or to the galley to check out that flooding alarm.
