My teenage daughter has the really waxy dandruff (the kind that comes with teenage hormones) and tea tree shampoo is the only solution we have found that works.

athletes foot - you can use a foot soak if you like, diluting it to 10-20 drops to a container of water enough to cover feet, but straight is best. You might be able to salvage shoes by spraying a mixture of TTO and water in shoes.. I have never tried it but I don't know why it wouldn't work.. though soggy shoes????

athletes foot and ring worm use straight until gone.

dandruff, mix with water... 10 drops to a pint and use as final rinse on hair.. 3 or 4 times and it will be gone.. note: dandruff on a woman 'may' mean she has a vaginal yeast infection.

vaginal yeast infection.. 6-10 drops to 8 ounces (there abouts, more water is fine) and douche with it for 3-5 days. If the labia is on fire, rinse area with a little douche water.
If it is a severe yeast infection, put 5-6 drops on a tampon every day for 3 days and it will be gone.

Mouth wash for inflammed gums.. now this tastes yucky... 10 drops of TTO to 16 ounces of water... you can add 3-5 drops of mint oil or cinnamon oil or orange or ??? to flavor it. It sort of helps.

Dog ear yeast infection.. mix 10 drops of TTO with cooking oil, using an applicator like a mustard container or a beauty supply hair dye bottle or any bottle with a pointy lid and you can squeez.. squeeze enough in to fill ear, rub behind the ear and down the side of neck a few inches. do this outside as dog will shake head! there seems to be a problem with cats and tea tree oil... seems it will kill them.

using a q-tip and dabbing TTO on pimples will help. Never double dip!

Tea Tree Oil may NOT be available in your area and it is a bit expensive.. so an alternative is Listerine Mouth Wash!!! yep! Listerine is made with Thymol another herb that has the same properties as Tea Tree Oil... treat Listerine the same as Tea Tree Oil. And of course Vinegar also has the same properties, just not as strong.

Disclaimer: please NEVER take my word for anything.. I do my own research for myself and you need to do your own research for your self.

and I am not a doctor, vet or an herbalist and don't play one on television. I am just someone tht did the research and use it on an almost daily basis.

I keep a bottle on hand as well as one in my first aid kit. I find that cuts heal faster w/ an application. Cured a case of nail fungus in one week.

good stuff!

I bought my very small bottle at a local health food store. I have a spray bottle of mostly water and a few drops of TTO in it which I spray on the shower floor after each use. And there is no need to buy a special TTO shampoo, just add a few drops of TTO to your regular shampoo...works great on dry scalp, etc. I spray the mixed water and TTO on hard surfaces for a bit of extra 'clean', and even spritz a bit into my mouth after brushing (spit after using...do NOT swallow).

If you live in south FLorida the tree is every where. You can also make a tea out of the leaves -- passable -- and use the blossoms to sweeten the tea. Becareful though, lots of folks have an allergy to the tree.

This is awesome, thank you so much. I was told that you cannot use Tea Tree Oil internally, so how do you treat diseases and infections as listed above? Thanks.

I help raise four grandkids, this would help to know.

NO ... do not take this internally!

Last summer (at the start of flip-flop season,) my nieces were so grossed out by my toenails.
It was embarrassing for me.

I told Dilligaf about that in chat one day and she said "tea tree oil."

I got a bottle at Walmart, started swabbing it on my toenails every am with a Q-tip
... and in two months my toes looked like a little girl's.
I would offer to take my boots off and show my toes to anyone who was interested.

This stuff sounds great I can't believe I've never heard of it! I'm going to have to keep my eye out for it next time I'm out.

Anyone know what kind of shelf life it has? Is it usually right in the first aid section in stores?

I have started to put a book together for myself on the benefits of certain vitamins and other alternative methods of health care. I came back this morning to this link, and copied all the great suggestions.

A 2oz. bottle is $8 at Wal-Mart right now. If they pass that new bill that will control alternative medicine, we better stock up on this. These things will disappear (sp?).

do NOT swallow it; no harm gargling with it or swishing it, though.

Also, dilute it before using it for anything; my spray bottle has only a few drops of TTO with the rest water. I spritz the shower and bathroom sink, then spray it in my mouth, swish and spit, then rinse and wipe the sink... voila, everything is clean. Two or 3 drops in a bottle of shampoo is all you need; you will also see the shampoo sudsing more. If you have little ones, Google for how to treat head-lice.

* three oils I keep in my medicine box: TTO, rosemary oil and oil of cloves.

Really great preventative for head lice. I've got 3 kids. Lice have gone thru the grade school three times since my oldest started. I only heard about them after the fact, when other moms were griping about how many times they had to wash their kids' hair/spray down their house/bag up all their stuff.
