Default Smith & Wesson CKSUR4G Homeland Security

Well, Big 5 sporting goods had this blade on sale, bought 2 at $35 each.
One went to my little brother, the other to my oldest son.

Quote:

The Smith and Wesson Model CKSUR4G Homeland Security Fixed Blade Knife features a 5.5" modified tanto blade made of 440C stainless steel. The blade has a black Titanium powder coat, saw tooth back, and Smith & Wesson Homeland Security etch. The Model CKSUR4G Knife has full tang construction with green G10 handle scales, an integral cross guard, and lanyard hole. Includes a nylon sheath with a D-ring and lashing slots. The Smith and Wesson Model CKSUR4G Homeland Security Knife is 11.75" overall, and weighs 14.8 ounces.

So far the handle is a little sharp edged. Gonna smooth edges.

It was also loose. Torx screws need some blue loktite.

Maybe paracord wrap handle?

The blade looks as if it was laser edged, and so far has been a b*&ch to try and sharpen.

The saw back is pretty much useless, too short and it ain't offset edged.

Overall:

Nice weight
Decent balance
Full Tang
Came with sharpening stone

Budget wise, beginner/student blade.

FYI: Made in China, so gonna have to see how long this will hold up. Probably also explains the lousy blade edge, junk saw back, loose torx screws and sharp edged handle.

I went out to the car because I thought I had a S&W knife in the trunk. Turns out it's Winchester.

Gonna take these to a bladesmith and get him to put an edge on them, I'm done messing with them, the laser used to edge these blades left them with an edge similar to a sawback, looking at the edge thru a loop, you can see the pulses or motion from the stepper motors from the laser.

I've never heard anything good about SW knives. After a similar experience as Kev with a Winchester knife I don't trust gun brand knives. Would you buy a knife brand gun, I wouldn't .

The only gun brand knives I trust are Remington and Browning...

S&W and Winchester are pure unadulterated junk...I had a S&W folder that wouldn't open unless you used pliers on the Walker lock...

I had a small Beretta with a skeleton blade that was a actually a great little knife. It kept a great edge, would open and close reliably, and was just the right size for everyday use. It's a shame I lost it.

Haven't you heard about the latest, greatest toughest, most accurate, most powerfull gun in the world???

It's made by Clod Steal & looks EXACTLY like a 1911.
Everyone who's serious about their firearm should own one of these.

Shoots the same 45ACP ammo, but the bullets come out 17X faster out of this amazing firearm.
Everyone who's serious about their firearm should own one of these.

Accuracy is amazing...one hole groups at 3 miles no matter WHAT brand of ammo you use!!!
I don't know how they do it.

The frame is made out of Cr8V72MO99Fe6Ca42.509-27 XOXOLOL steel & the slide is some kind of indestructable rubber material.
Just Google Cr8V72MO99Fe6Ca42.509-27 XOXOLOL steel & you'll see just how great it is for this application.

No need to worry about rust because it's coated with about 4 pounds of black paint that not only protects the finish, but adds to the lead dust you breath whenever you fire it. (I guess lead paint is what they use in China ).
They extra weight also helps control the recoil a bit.
Comes with a heavy duty ambidextrous holster that looks like kydex, but they don't really say what the material is.

Even with ALL of those great features, you can get one of your own for only 65 bucks !!!
I don't know how they can produce such an impressive piece & sell it for only $65 bucks...amazing,just amazing!
Everyone who's serious about their firearm should own on of these.

At least that's what their website says.
Just thought some of you guys would like to know......

Have a good day

Cliff

Sorry about forgetting the European makers--I agree, they are good knives and made by Boker for some models and a couple of Italian firms as well...

HK and SIG also has a set of knives made by Katz (J.P. Sauer) that are very good and Puma made some knives for one of the Bespoke Houses in England but I've forgotten if it's Purdey or Holland & Holland or some other...

Merkel, Kreighoff, Heym, Sako all had knives made as well...

Beware of imitations of this one though .

Some small time dealers will probably try selling knockoffs pretty soon.
I heard that an outfit called Reddskor Pee On Sicks already has a prototype in the works, but is having some problems importing them for some reason .

Theirs will likely sell for over $200,but it's probably going to be better than the original.

Just what I heard....might not work out for them. You can't believe everything you read on the internet you know .

Wel, I guess it would depend...Katz Knives is somehow a part of J.P. Sauer and SIG/Sauer and I'd buy one of their rifles or shotguns or pistols in a heartbeat...Oh, wait, I do have a drilling and a double sxs shotgun...

Carried two knives in Nam a Gerber Mark II and a Camillus Air Force Survival knife I stole from the AF. AFASEK is in it's normal retirement place in the desk drawer under my key board I am using. It's 40 + years old and still sharp.
Thinking of picking up a Gerber Steadfast looks like a fine tool.
