Useless trivia: while test driving a new 'search' program, I had it calculate the word count statistics of all the Jerry D. Young stories I have. The total was over 1.6 million words. The shortest story was ~500 words, the longest was ~120,000, and the average was ~20,000.

I'm on the same list as these fine authors? This is high praise, indeed.

Do you think Jerry is a alien Hybrid.

1.6 millions words.

How many hours does that represent Jerry.

Those 1.6 million words are spread over five years. The actual timing of words per hour varies greatly as I often interrupt the writing to do some research. I have to admit I can't write as much as I used to. There was a time when I wrote three million words in three years.

This is the best thread I've looked at on the boards and really helps alot. Thanks for your time. If I could nominate someone for a award for all the time you put into this it would be done. Not sure how or if I can do that.

I nominated it to be a sticky and for an award.
I myself think ZenEngineer is very worthy after his effort in compiling such a comprehensive list.

Thank you for the award nomination. Pawiscoming started this effort, I just reformatted the links and did a couple of updates.

Having the index as a sticky makes it easier to find. I am willing to keep it up to date with monthly updates, but it would be easier (and more visible) if I have the ability to edit the original post.

No, I only list fiction stories that are posts within threads in the "Books, Movies & Stories" section. I don't list stories posted as files in the download section, or stories on other forums but with links posted here. A question for you: Is it OK for you to post "The Cabin" as a thread when Grog posted it as a file?

I'm good, thanks.

I do the index for selfish reasons. A little of it is OCD. Some of it is me filtering the fiction (signal) from the nonfiction (noise) threads, so I can find the stories I want to read. And to the rest is because I want to give back something to this board. I don't have any new prepping tips to offer since I am still learning myself. I won't get involved in any of the social/political/religious debate. And I'm grateful for all of the stories and info that is posted here.

I've copied and pasted all the stories to my laptop with the original authors/posters names and any copyrights.
Haven't given any away, but it is nice to have a whole prep story section on my laptop that I can read when ever I'm away from the internet.
