Hello From New England

Hello, just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I do not consider myself a survivalist in the classic style. I do consider myself a realist. I realize that living where I do there is a better than average chance of hurricanes and snow storms that will put utilities out for many days. So I store food, and fuel and water. I realize that as a backwoods adventurer, hunter and fisherman, I will spend a night unplanned in the woods sooner or latter, or face a less than savory character, so I go prepared to stay warm, dry and protected.
I grow and can a lot of my own food, not because I want to be self sufficient, but because I don’t like a lot of chemicals in my food, or being raped at the market check out. I hunt for the same reasons.
The board looks like a great place to pick up knowledge, and seems staffed by some quality moderators, and populated by some quality posters; I look forward to contributing in my small ways.

Hello and welcome to the forum from MA and ME. There are all varieties of survivalists and preppers here. We're lucky that we don't have quakes and widespread floods and not many cat 4 or 5 hurricanes to worry about.

Thanks every one and yes we are kind of lucky here in MA. weather wise. It’s the elected officials we really have to keep an eye on I grew up in Rangeley ME, but like you now call MA home.
