You are an evil thief and your robbery is ruining America, supporting terrorism and helping the NWO!

Libraries pay for their books, dvd's and cds. Yes they are there for you to take home for a determinate amount of time and read, watch, listen. They are not there for you to COPY the entire book, dvd, cd and give/sell COPIES to another person.

how can it be considered stealing ..if you are merely downloading the same song that you hear in rotation on the radio 80 times a day for free? like they have a carrot suspended in front of your face and are upset when u take a nibble..

yes.. but what happens if you steal something in a store and get caught... do you have to pay 10 million for stealing a few cds if you get caught.. so how is downloading a song worse.. If you stole the cd from a store or from the intrnet.. whats the diffrence..

The difference is stealing a c.d. is taking it right from a store, right from the owner. Downloading a song is taking it from a label or corporation.

... AND the writer, musicians, etc. because they receive a cut of the CD or legal digital download sale.

So, if you do carpentry and I come over and steal your book shelve its ok. I mean its not like you invested very much in making it. How much does wood really cost? Its not like the music industry didn't invest millions into the artists to get their work in front of people. Its not like the artists didn't spend years on the verge of starvation trying to get their work in front of the right people to make it big.

Nope they were born famous and wealthy and they are trying to SCREW you. Shame on them for trying make a living or become wealthy in the process. The American dream is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of.

Now, I sound just as ridiculous as you that support stealing intellectual property. Those big numbers are reserved for people who knowingly and willfully break copyright law with malicious intent. It is $250,000 per office and up to 10 years in prison. Not bad. I know a first time burglar with no priors that got 15 for his crime that was for stealing a MP3 player and a necklace. Seems a bit extreme right?

The law is extreme not for big corporations, but to protect artists from large corporations. However, the copyright laws protect who the owner of the work. How do you stick it to the corporations (as suggested here) and protect the artist? I know in my line of work copyright laws were used to protect individuals from being screwed from large companies.

Just for the record, I'm still one of those weirdos who BUYS CDs. I firmly believe in rewarding artists I like with my hard earned bucks.
