munchie3409 - You made it clear I was wrong and the round was superior in many ways to say the 9mm AP round out of a sub gun. Which the new round still hasn't proven to do. We can compare the new ammo's ballistics to what we had 10 years ago in 9mm-45 sub guns. It still doesn't make it.
Also yeah loosing velocity can be a issue, but none of the bullpups we have talked about so far are really 800 yard hitters anyways, and the only round that MAY need fragmentation is the 5.56 (HP etc not as necessary military rounds yes). Other rounds wont reach, or don't need the frag, just yaw which will still happen.
Like I said I don't think either the
gun or the round are exceptional. However I do like what they did and many of your points are valid. I think ambi is important and its nice to see a company looking in that direction.
Also he was right there were issues and recalls. Check the FN forums back in 2006. Every FS2000 to the point of the recall had the possibility of slam firing.......... Every gun has a growing period.
Also you have said about ready to fire with the other guy, vs folding stocks, but I addressed that. I didn't see a return reply as I think you were directing your effort toward him, but you can't honestly dismiss it. Where is the folding stock such a detriment vs a bullpup? Only time I can see is maybe and I mean a BIG perfect storm MAYBE during a possible fight from inside a vehicle with aggressors at the farther ends of your range.
I just find that you are so against them and I'm not sure why...do you own stock in AR/AK companies that you have this hatred for bullpups?
As for this the same could be asked about you owning stock.... I frankly don't care if someone carries a m14, a mp5, AK, AR, Bazooka, that is all fine. I do have a issue with mythical properties of weapons over acheiveing. I am worried about drawbacks, and stuff being pushed like snake oil. I don't think you are trying to sell me snake oil, but I have been around the Aussies and Brits, eaten that god awful mar-mite, and they all like our M-4 better. Hell much of the SAS carry that over there bullpups, and this is coming from people who should love them like we love ARs and M14s.
I would like to see a better product, and FN has done a decent job trying to do something really exceptional, but has still fallen short of the standard. When they surpass I'll be more interested.
