Hey ScottPreps...I'm in CT and I head into the city a few times a month. The place to cross over the river out of city for mr would be walking across the Metro North Bridge at the Harlem Station. I wouldn't enter the tracks at the station itself but at a spot on Park Ave. The bridge has a walkway on it (I assume for maintenance) and it would be a quick walk across out of the city. In a real pinch if I could n't on the bridge for some reason...that spot in the river is a short swim across. keeping a cheap blow up plastic water ring from the dollar store (I keep two of them) in your bag would make the swim much easier. Once across I would stick to the MTA tracks and walk north...Would do my best to stay off the streets. I have one friend (been friends for 30 years) that works in the city, we plan to meet at a location in mid-town and make the trek together if it ever came down to it. You're welcome to join us.. :)
