I believe one of the more difficult things in making a move to a strange new place is making good friends. I've done a lot of moving in my life: California, Nebraska, Iowa, Idaho, New Mexico, Indiana, Illinois, Texas, Minnesota, Montana, Missouri, Arizona, and Colorado. In my experience it takes a good three years to develop deep friendships. It definitely helps if you take the initiative at put yourself out there: Church, local interest groups, local politics, etc., but it just takes time. It will happen, but it takes time.
Some great places in northern Idaho. I love it around Sand Point, Bonner's Ferry areas. Cour d' Alene is too yuppy for me, but it is both beautiful and expensive. St. Mary's is nice as well.
So when do you make the jump and get up there?
