I tried the slide on my husband's XDM and it was hard for me to use. I caught my pinky in it and left a coating of fruit punch nail polish around the chanber. :) I'm going to try the slide on a few sub compact guns before I buy.

Well howdy and welcome to the neighborhood! If you like parsnips and carrots they do well for a lot of the year here. Plant your peas when it's still chilly, like March. Add a few buckets of sand to your soil so you can get the plants up easy.

The strawberry bed will have to be entirely redone because I used blocks. They will all have to be releveled. The little old lady who ran into my hydrant is a good customer. She has also hit my mailbox. Sneaky little thing never mentioned either.

I think I'm gonna get my gun Saturday, leaning towards the Springfield XD 3 or Kimber Solo.

Hi Doc, I hope you guys are doing well. Have a happy Holiday season and keep posting about that garden! Last spring I made a beautiful raisedstrawberry bed around an ugly hydrant. It just broke and now we have to get after it with the uniloader in the spring. No strawberries for me. :(

Wow, you're about 1 1/2 hours away from me. I was told that taking them was in turn doing them a favor. They no longer had to wash them out thoroughly for recycling. They are happy I'm taking the burden of all that off their hands! Don't be afraid to ask, I'm sure you'll all be happy that you did! Its just an added burden to them. If you have no luck, its a long ride here, but you're still welcome to come up. Im near Rutgers University. Exit 9 .

If anyone has a line on pails and 55 gallon drums in this area, please PM me.
Yes, Ive struck gold! My local ACME grocery store bakery dept. is putting aside all their food grade 5 gallon buckets every week for me. If you go into your local markets ask. Shoprite couldnt help me, but Acme is saving them weekly. Only thing is Ive got to wash out all the frosting. If you cant find any, I can meet you somewhere and give you some for free. My next pick up will probably be next week sometime, Just soak em for 1/2 hour and wash out the frosting. Us Jersey people have got to help each other!! :thumb:

I keep a heat light on mine, the banties only weigh around a pound and I don't want Granny Chicken to die. I just leave it on 24-7 because I haven't noticed any difference in the utility bill. They laid eggs most of the winter but now that they are setting I don't gather. It'll be fun to see little mutt chickens in a couple weeks. :)

Speaking of chickies, how do you keep the girls warm in the winter, and do they still lays eggs for you? I was reading about a guy that gave his hens about 18 hours of light during the winter and he said they laid almost all year because of it.

Hi! I didn't see your reply till now. The second story at my house is a brittle older tree that has to come down anyway. I'm going to leave it up until this fall and then have my dad take it down gently.
As for the town rules, well that stinks. So would raising hogs on one acre! Haha, the things people do, why am I ever surprised?
Maybe they will let you have chickens but no roosty. If they don't you could get a petition going and try to change it. I don't trust a feller who doesn't like chickens. :)

You'll have to be gentle with the paw paws. I'm on my second set of them. I found out that they need to be a second story tree for the first year or two. I'm hoping mine lived but I could see some sun burn on their leaves later in the summer. I can't wait to try a paw paw. I also ordered a red currant bush. I like the old fashioned plants, even if they were sour.

Hey Doc, what fruit/nut trees are you getting? I ordered mine from Gurney's. If they have all in stock I'm adding 6 heritage raspberries, a goji plant, a hemp sprouting bag, and several other odd fruiting plants that I can't remember at the moment. I've got some green thumb fever!
