Would love to, but already have plans. I'll need a week heads up to make sure I can clear everything.

Oh Pangea, I am so sorry to hear the news! (I've been remiss in checking the usual sections on the board.) Our prayers and thoughts for you and your family in this trying time.

I also am trying to buy some more land around my place. On one ide ia all trees, and on the other side is pasture for the dairy farm at the end of the road. At least we will have dairy products. Tammy brother owns a small meat procesing shop in Alabama, and he told me he will get as much jerkey as I want and vacuum sel it for me. I have got to start di=oing a better job of stockpiling food.

Our main goal has been to get debt free, and are almost there. Right now, it's just my wife & I , but her 2 daughters and a son-in-law are moving to Tullahoma, so I need to start planning for them

I have been actively prepping for about two years now and have accumulated enough food, meds, etc for my possibly 8 person family (6 adults and 2 infants) unit for over one year comfortably. I home can meats, vegies, soups, chilies, etc as well as purchase #10 cans of foods. I have a grain mill and grains, meat grinder and sausage stuffer. Enough weapons and ammo to keep all of this safe. My garden will provide fresh foods and soon I will have chickens and rabbits.

I'm serious about this stuff, not just for "in case of emergency" but for a more self sufficient lifestyle.

Again, I am in total agreement. Again, I don't want to get too personal, but how much prepping have you done so far? I know some people don't want to give away 'secrets'. We built our home trying to use the sun for as much light and passive heat in winter, and shading in summer. There are springs only a few feet across my property line. I plan to install solar panels and solar water heater next year. (I hope) I also want to put in a well. But food, that is another story, so far after about a week, the cats will be starting to look pretty tasty. lol. My wife is a nurse, so hopefully, she can stitch me up.
I need to be putting back some more ammo, but I tend to shoot most of it within a month or so of purchase. I just bought 100 9mm bullets, I will try not to shoot them too fast this time.

You can't say anything about obama that I haven't already said, even if you throw in some cursing! Hands down, the worst president in Americas history. If he is re-elected, I'm doubling up on all of my preps.

I aggree with you. I try to be a 'glass half full' kind of guy, but when you watch the news, read the paper, or get on the internet, all you see is BAD, and getting worse. I am not trying to promote my views, so please forgive me if I offend you, but I think Obama has but this country into such a bad direction, we may NEVER recover as a country. But with that aside, you can never be wrong for preparing to take care of your family, be it from world wide collapse, earthquake, or just having the power go out during a storm.

What's your take on the current and pending direction of our country? Think prepping is prudent? I'm about 90% convinced that I'll need all of this stuff within one year.
