Well, I personally try hard not to go too far either direction. Pull the trigger too soon and harm can come to my family, too late and harm can come. So I watch this thing carefully.

I noticed all the "quit peeing your pants" sneers have stopped on the virus thread. Even survivalists are taking it seriously now. Haha

Hey Colt, I thought I would give you an update from where I work, since you were/are in the medical field. Like I said before, I work at our local hospital, in Dietary. I am a porter. Our hospital set up mandatory PPE training for most RNs, Imaging, FBC, NICU, EVS and Logistics(Patient Transporters). We were not included. I was sorta surprised since we are in patient rooms every 30-45 min. I asked some of RNs from different departments what their thoughts were on it. Most said it was useless. They were there for 5-8 min only!!! I asked if the people providing the training seemed serious about it. They told me that they seemed to be going thru the motions, kind of like checking something off a checklist. Anyway, a few of the FBC RNs did NOT even go(their day off) because being told it was only lasting 5 min or so. Everybody I talk to is either oblivious to the possibility of something happening or don't want to think about it. That is the mentality of many people up here.

Thanks for the thanks in the recent Syrian thread. I'm glad that I'm not the only here who doesn't buy into this idea that human life is not sacred and worth preserving.

Interested in your underground house concept. I have the same plan happening now. Want to compare notes? :)

I'm quite certain you're correct about Harris being Russian... But there was that tiny possibility it was a Uke so felt I had to go back and give benefit of the doubt, knowing also that what I wrote would sooth the Uke and p-off the Russian. (I'm 90% Uke sympathiser.)

I really find it hard to justify the CDC as incompetent. And I do not usually give into conspiracy theory.* But this is really looking conspiratorial. I just can't explain it any other way, not even with Occam's razor and human stupidity.

Most disposable suits are very expensive, or cheap crap (which is the stuff most hospitals use). You really want something that is waterproof, and anything you're going to buy in a box of 20 is literally not going to hold water (and neither do vinyl gloves, which are supposed to be used for dry exam only).

To be frank your best bet short of an air tight level 1 suit is going to be a plain ol' waterproof poncho. They're very cheap and you can disinfect them if you have to. Actually, I'd recommend disinfecting it before removal to avoid any oopsies when taking it off.

As for disinfectant... nothing is as cheap or reliable as plain ol' bleach. It kills more than anything else you are going to have access to.

hi, hope you don't mind me asking but you seem to be the best person to ask if the ebola thread is anything to go by. I have already got in my kit ffp3 (uk equivalent of N95 masks) masks and were looking at disposable protective suits etc but there are so many I got all confuddled. also disinfectant wise im not sure what I need, so when it comes to a pandemic of an infectious disease what should I have in my kit? \m/ Samantha \m/
