The 1935 Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics implies that after a while, the cat is simultaneously alive and dead.

That was a very thoughtful gift he gave her in light of that. Anyone can replace a cat, but replacing a thought requires some doing. Kudo's to him.

God Bless to you and Yours.

Given their age, and the diarrhea, it sounds like the rabbit version of "scours". It's pretty common with buns being switched over from mama's milk to solid food. Once the diarrhea starts, they can die in 12-24 hours.

I avoided it with mine by ALWAYS having the solid food (hay and pellets, greens like carrot, beet, clover, and occasional dandelion greens) available from the time their eyes are open and they are moving around, so that they start getting used to the solid food even though they are still nursing. I also don't wean them until they are about 6-8 weeks old. By that time, they are nursing partially, and eating solid food, so the transition over to just the solid food is easier. Avoid iceberg lettuce--it will give them diarrhea in a hurry.

Hope that I've given some helpful information. Don't feel bad about losing the ones you did...there are a LOT of things that can go wrong with rabbits, and even experienced rabbit keepers lose some. It goes with the territory.

Jelsey. I'm a bit west of you...Cambria/Somerset county area.

Just had a new litter of 6 kits today. I have one cardinal rule about the babies...you do NOT name your food. If I call them anything, it's a generic "group" name...."the boys", "fuzzbuckets", "future meals", etc. Helps to keep from getting too attached, which helps come butchering time.

Glad that you found my postings helpful. As to where to find New Zealands in your area, my best suggestion would be to check with your local 4H club. I ended up going to Maryland to get my Californians, from the gal who helps the kids with their "meat pen" 4H projects. Your local AG extension agent may know who is in charge of the 4H in your area. Another place to check is with the American Rabbit Breeder's Association. They maintain lists of breeders in different areas of the country, as do the specific breed clubs.
