I went to fort sill for BCT and AIT back in 1993. I've always wondered if it would be possible to locate and contact my drill sergeant. Basic was a really good thing for me. He had a big impact on me. It would be nice to thank him. Not that he would remember me.

Hey. Good to see a fellow 13F posting. I was an FISTer for 3 years at Knox and then in Divarty FSE in the Indiana NG. I also deployed to Bosnia as a 13R and came back and went right back to 13F again. I loved being on the hill. Are you active duty now?

Hey 13F. Nice to see another artilleryman here. (yes, i guess I'll consider calling you artillery lol) I did 2 years as a 13E and 5 as 13B in WI ARNG. I've had the opportunity to sit on the hill with FO's and watch them call in copperhead rounds. Pretty cool job you have. Thanks for your service!

It was a cool job when I had it! At first no body knew what we were supposed to do but us! I do remember people would forget who was supposed to feed us in the field--and we wouldn't get fed while on the Hill. They left us out in a hurricane once too! Our od hand held LRF did only that--we has a separate LTD--weighed in heavy, shoulder fired, so to speak. Glad to see that the Arty still has its orphans though!

Howdy--I was MOS 13F3P3X--year ago! First in the FIST platoon in my battery to come out of the School at Ft. Sill. Started with an M2 compass, Binos made in 1943, and a map. Ended with DMD's LRFS and all the rest--trained on M981 FISTVs when they were first issued in Europe. I guess it's all changed now. Drop me a line if you please, I'd like to hear about it!
