Sorry for the late reply, I don't get on here everyday. So what is your name?
I just wanted to ask you if you have seen the posts on craigslist in Austin for MRE's. they are $50 a box and no shipping. What do you think? I don't eat GMO's, so they would not be used by us unless it was a dire emergency. They would also be good for barter items. Just thought I would let you know in case you hadn't seen it.
All the preppers in Austin should have a get together lunch so we can all meet and talk OPSEC :)

Haha, I am not Jim, my name is Jacky. So did you go out to your BOL camping? How far is it from your house? We have 3 acres in South Austin, so we are figuring on bugging in. I have a spot I would like to use for this in a wooded area of my property. I would love to see the S. Austin lady's house, do you know the street, I can do a drive by peek. What do you think about using bags of concrete premix instead of filling bags with dirt? Have you started building yours yet? I was going to build mine with my husband and daughter gradually. We also thought about digging it down about 4' so the mound wouldn't be so big. Like this one looks http://www.changetheworldkids.org/wp-content/uploads/root-cellar.jpg

I'm not a morning person, but we've used it in the late afternoon, after 7:00 or so, and it's gotten hot enough to cook raw meat through. We haven't put a thermometer in there.

I found pics online and emailed Jim for a pattern. Can you tell me if the claim that it can be used in early morning and late afternoon sun is BS? What is the highest temp you have been able to achieve? The highest temp I can get from a cookit is about 250 degrees. Thanks Austin Friend :)

Howdy Token! Im here for an error of judgement(listening to my now ex-wife). Murphy's Law says it will be a life sentence, but will grab the first decent job in a livable state that
comes along. Today is my Monday, and I dont look forward to 110 degrees(our tin building tends to amplify the heat) and only 2 fans for 5 mechanics to fight over. Are you a native, or an unfortunate transplant?
